Assignee:Sabinsa Corporation

Abstract:
Current trend in management of obesity focuses on maintaining a healthy weight for overall well being. Obesity is a result of chronic imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure, while a balance of energy helps you stay at a healthy weight for the long time. Supplements that contain research-backed ingredients for maintaining healthy weight are in great demand.

Maintaining a healthy weight is an important part of overall well-being, and current wellness trends emphasize supporting balanced energy intake and expenditure. Research-supported nutritional ingredients that help promote healthy metabolic activity continue to attract strong consumer interest. Forskolin, a bioactive compound from Coleus forskohlii, is known for its role in supporting cyclic AMP levels, which can influence energy expenditure and metabolic balance. Sabinsa’s patented forskolin technology highlights its potential to support healthy body composition by encouraging the activity of metabolically active fat cells, helping the body use energy more efficiently. This patent also describes a method for supporting optimal cellular energy balance through forskolin’s interaction with specific physiological pathways, emphasizing its relevance in formulations designed to promote overall metabolic wellness.

Method of preparing a forskohlin composition from forskohlin extract and use of forskohlin for promoting lean body mass and treating mood disorders

Filling Date:Feb 27, 1997
Issue Date:Sep 8, 1998
Inventors:Muhammed Majeed, Viadimir Badmaey, R. Rajendran
Assignee:Sabinsa Corporation

Abstract:
A method of promoting lean body mass in an individual is disclosed, comprising administering to the individual a lean body mass promoting effective amount of forskohlin. Forskolin, a naturally occurring compound from Coleus forskohlii, has been studied for its ability to support healthy body composition and overall well-being. Research indicates that forskolin may help promote lean body mass by influencing key cellular pathways involved in metabolic activity. It has also been explored for its role in supporting a positive mood and emotional balance through its effects on normal biochemical signaling. Nutritional compositions featuring forskolin typically include standardized extracts blended with appropriate carriers or excipients to ensure consistency and quality. Methods for preparing forskolin-rich extracts from Coleus forskohlii roots have been developed to yield stable and reliable compositions suitable for dietary supplement applications.
